Gingerbread

It is, after all, the holiday season. This time of year, we move from one to the next. So... we did gingerbread cookies yesterday (have saved them for today to decorate). Milo and Enzo begged after watching the Halloween special, Scared Shrekless (yes - Shrek and friends tell scary stories) in which "Gingy" (the gingerbread man) tells a horrific tale of creating his perfect bride only to lose her in a "mixing accident" at which time she returns as a zombie cookie, droning "together forever". So... we have a couple "Gingys" and a couple of "zombie brides". Should be fun. I used this recipe, which was VERY easy to manage with the kids - came out a good consistency - seems tasty (and has no egg for little ones who want to taste the batter and moms who fear salmonella).

Oh yeah - and I have a house full of sick kids - like throwing up, everything is a mess, no sleep last night sick (and, as we all know - "just turned three year olds" do not do well getting sick on something that is NOT a blanket, couch, rug, parent's clothing, etc. - poor cupcakes :-(. Started late evening. All good now (though I am hoping that Olivia doesn't get it, as she has avoided it thus far - and... has another dance coming up - Shadyside Academy's Snow Ball, so.....more on THAT later :-). Chicken soup, crackers and Ginger Ale await.

Oh man, I'm sorry you have a house full of sickies. The gingerbread cookies look like fun though! Good luck with all the chicken noodle soup that I'm sure will be forthcoming . . .

The cookies are a little misshapen because I let the little ones handle the cookie cutters, but... they'll still taste the same. This sick thing is a quick one - just a couple hours - not too bad.
